Our Commitment to Safety, Dignity and Protection

Wings For The Nations is committed to protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse, exploitation, neglect, harassment and avoidable harm. Safeguarding is a shared responsibility across staff, volunteers, partners, visitors and service providers.

Our safeguarding principles

  • The safety and dignity of beneficiaries come before publicity or convenience.
  • Concerns are taken seriously and handled through appropriate reporting pathways.
  • Children should be listened to in age-appropriate ways and decisions should consider their best interests.
  • Survivors of violence should be treated with confidentiality, respect and choice.
  • Staff and volunteers should be screened, trained and supervised according to their role.
  • Residential and child-focused areas should have controlled access.
  • Photography, video and personal stories should require appropriate consent and risk assessment.
  • Sensitive personal information should be accessed only by people who need it for legitimate programme purposes.
  • Allegations or suspected abuse should not be concealed to protect the reputation of the organisation or an individual.
